First decide on what type of wax you are going to be working with. There is paraffin, beeswax, and the gel-candle material. Make sure to buy wicks to be inserted into your candles during the molding process. Then you need to choose the container you are going to mold your candle in. Just make sure that this can take hot wax being poured into it. Oh don"t forget the dyes and the scents you need too. There are also various adornments to choose from to decorate your candles too. So select a few to try out.

Once you have all your materials together then it is time to melt your wax or gel. The melting temps will vary between these various materials but the process is basically the same.

The most important of the candle making tips is to always use a double boiler. If you don"t have one, make one with a small pan inside a larger one. You place water in the bottom and get it hot enough to melt your candle-making material. Maintain the temperature warm enough to melt but not so hot that the material could ignite. This happens quite easily especially with the paraffin. Don"t forget to add which dyes and scents you want with your candle once the candle material is melted, but add these a little bit at a time so that neither is overpowering.

Once the material is melted, colored, and scented, then position the wick in the center of the container, or if you are positioning more than one set them how you want them. Pour the candle material slowly into the container not to disturb the wick or wicks.

Allow the candle to cool for a full 4 - 6 hours. When it is completely cool and hardened then it is time to remove it from the mold. If it does not easily come out just refrigerate it for added cooling and it should come out easily. Now your candle is ready to enjoy!

Use these candle making tips to make your own candles today. You could even have your own business if you so choose.
