Offray Ribbons

C.M. Offray and Son, Inc. is a family run business specializing in ribbon and narrow fabric manufacturing. Since 1876, when Claude Offray, Jrň€™s grandfather traveled from France to New York as a representative of French textiles and ribbons, C.M. Offray has offered the most sought after and finely made ribbons and narrow fabric selections. Today, C.M. Offray and Son, Inc. carries on the tradition of ň€śThe Worldň€™s Most Beautiful Ribbonsň€ť as the largest international manufacturer of ribbons and narrow fabrics for the clothing, home design, crafts, industrial, and packaging markets. In fact, many of the original designs created by the Mr. Offrayň€™s grandfather are still used as inspiration for todayň€™s creations.

C.M. Offray and Son, Inc. continue to utilize the most advanced and up-to-date machinery and computer technology. Beginning in 1900, the original mill was built in Patterson, New Jersey. Twenty-two years later, the mill was moved to Hagerstown, Maryland. During World War II, the entire operating mill was rebuilt and production was modernized with a war time specialization in webbings and parachute tapes. As a result of this modernization, Offray quickly became the leader in the market of woven-edge ribbons made of man-made fibers. Offray ribbons were the first to meet flame retardant government regulations without the use of chemicals. In addition, the ribbons and narrow fabrics designed and produced by Offray are colorfast, washable, able to be dry-cleaned and do not shrink or need to be ironed.

In 1989, the growing arena of craft and floral markets led Offray to purchase the Lion Ribbon Company, which has become an affiliate used for producing and distributing unique ribbons in both the domestic and international floral design markets. Today, the Offray corporate office is located in Chester, New Jersey where the company received a citation as the New Jersey Family Business of the Year. The warehouses and shipping headquarters for Offray are still located in Hagerstown, Maryland along with sales offices throughout Europe and Asia.

The Wearing O' The Green

÷  No sooner than the last chocolate has been popped into our mouths and the roses have been hung to dry, St. Valentine steps aside for St. Patrick as green takes over from red to mark the next commercial milestone on the calendar. Shamrocks are everywhere even if their signature emerald green is not quite aligned with today\"s fashion palette which features more avocado, pear and lime shades - a green with much more yellow than blue. As well, green has become a strong symbol of the environmental movement and is earnestly displayed by political parties, coalitions and planet-saving products.÷
